Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park covers an area of 800 square kilometers located in East Java. For anyone with an interest in volcanoes, a visit to the park is a must. This park is the largest volcanic region in the province of East Java. Visit this park and saw plumes of smoke out of Mount Semeru, an active volcano that is located 3676 meters above sea level is an amazingly beautiful experience. Caldera in the park is the largest in the island of Java, with barren desert area of 10 km. In this sea of sand found seven eruptive centers in the two paths that criss-cross the east-west and northeast-southwest. Mount Bromo is emerging that includes volcanoes that are still active and at times may issue an eruption of smoke and threaten human life in the vicinity (± 3500 inhabitants). The temperature at the top of Mount Bromo range from 5 to 18 degrees Celsius.
Tengger sandy area has been protected since 1919. Believed to be the only conservation area in Indonesia, and maybe in the world that has a unique marine sand of about 2000 m above sea level. There are several mountains inside the Bromo caldera like: Watangan mountain (2,661 m asl). Mount Batok (2,470 m asl), Mount Kursi (2,581 asl), Watangan Mountain (2661 m asl), and Widadaren mountain (2,650 m asl).
With beautiful scenery, easy access and adequate facilities, no wonder that this place is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Java.
